Discontinuation of The Ohio Benefit Bank

The Benefit Bank software platform is no longer available effective July 31, 2019. The Ohio Association of Foodbanks proudly partnered with Communally (formerly Solutions for Progress) for 13 years to administer the program. Unfortunately, Communally was forced to cease operations and file for bankruptcy. This is an unfortunate outcome for what has been a very successful partnership. For more than a decade, hundreds of faith-based and community organizations and thousands of volunteers and staff achieved the following results through The Ohio Benefit Bank:

  • Served more than 1 million Ohioans
  • Connected individuals and families with nearly $2 billion in work support programs and tax credits, vastly improving household stability
  • Encouraged the social service sector to modernize its approach to delivering services

We're proud of the 13 years we've partnered with Communally and many state, federal, and private sector stakeholders to make these results possible.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) Ohio Benefits System is still available as an option for clients to apply for healthcare, food assistance, and cash benefits.
